SPERO PLAYS NYRO (celebrating Laura Nyro’s birthday) also STEVE KATZ
Laura Nyro's groundbreaking music (“Eli's Coming,” “Stoned Soul Picnic,” “Wedding Bell Blues”) made her one of the most covered artists in the 1960s and 1970s. The Christine Spero Group preserves the integrity of Nyro's music with some improvisation of their own.
A part of the early Greenwich Village music scene, Steve Katz co-founded the Even Dozen Jug Band, the Blues Project and Blood, Sweat & Tears, winning 3 Grammys. He later produced two Lou Reed albums, both of which hit Billboard's Top Ten.
