"Nell Robinson & The Rose Of No-Man's Land" is an american family's musical journey with songs from the Revolutionary War to the present interwoven with 250 years of letters, stories and poetry from Nell's rural Alabama family. This uniquely crafted concert (also a PBS feature) showcases Nell Robinson's lush vocal quality and artisan story telling. With an all-star band featuring Jim Nunally (guitar, vocals; David Grisman Bluegrass Experience), Mike Witcher (slide guitar, dobro), Levon Henry (clarinet, soprano sax), Zach Harmon (percussion), Andrew Conklin (string bass) - and of course, two-time Grammy winner and folk icon Ramblin' Jack Elliott. This show has enjoyed enthusiastic responses from audiences at The Kennedy Center and other venues across the country.
The last of the singing cowboys, RAMBLIN' JACK ELLIOTT has packed so many adventures into his life and stories into his performances that he seems more myth than man. After running away to join the rodeo at fifteen, he traveled and sang with Woody Guthrie, his mentor. Ramblin' Jack went on to have many adventures with legends like Pete Seeger, Lead Belly, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Bob Dylan, who became a friend as Elliott mentored Dylan early in his career and later toured with the Rolling Thunder Review. Jack earned a Grammy in 1995, and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1998. A film on Elliott shot over the course of two years, The Ballad Of Ramblin' Jack, premiered at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival and was recently digitally remastered for instant viewing on Netflix and Amazon. With reader David Brancaccio (NPR's Marketplace; PBS' Now).
