Joanna Teters is carving a place for herself in the hearts and minds of today's music lovers with original, forward-thinking, new school soul music. Increasingly recognized for her ability to switch effortlessly from lush, deeply sultry tones to rugged reggae and blues, Teters serves her audiences with playful and energetic yet poised performances of both original compositions and covers. After many formative years in the mountains of upstate New York, she then went on to pursue her degree at Berklee College of Music, where she began to develop her craft over the years as bandleader, songwriter and front woman for Mad Satta, Drew ofthe Drew, SUNDUB, Lowtone Society and iLa Mawana, to name a few. She now resides in Brooklyn.

Teters is joined onstage by her musical team—bassist Ben Carr, guitarist Ted Morcaldi, drummer Zane West and keyboardist Noah Barker.

The Brighton Beat is a unique and engaging spectacle for all ages. Influences range from Afro-beat pioneer Fela Kuti, to modern cutting-edge NYC jazz with a heavy helping of classic New Orleans brass band funk. Performing up and down the East coast since 2010, the band has developed a style of performance that uniquely engages the audience and is fun for the whole family. Positive, uplifting, danceable music is a trademark of The Brighton Beat sound. Instrumental songs that feature room for the horn section to improvise anchor the band's set, but the show often includes guest vocalists, audience participation, group sing-a-longs and even the occasional circus act.
