Creative Strings Improvisers Orchestra, directed by Gwen Laster, is joining forces with Compass Arts' Rompatom Ensemble, directed by Gina Samardge, to bring you an afternoon of joyful music-making, perfect for folks of all ages. Come grab lunch with your family and experience a wide range of musical genres and styles played by these talented, young, local musicians on string, percussion and wind instruments.

Creative Strings Improvisers Orchestra is an openly structured and fun approach to music-making rooted in utilizing traditional skills and repertoire to develop improvisation, jazz and original music. Perfect for young musicians craving individuality, self expression and a personal experience of music through a wide-angle lens. www.gwenlaster.com/arts-in-education.html

Rompatom is a vocal, instrumental, and creative ensemble for students in 2nd-4th and 5th-8th grade, weaving musical styles and genres through the magic of singing, movement, theatrical elements, instrumental play and improvisation on xylophones, recorders, drums, ukuleles and violins. Rooted in the experience of complex rhythms and multi-part music, Rompatom performs an eclectic mix of material, including a wide range of world folk, traditional, jazz, rock/pop, and musical theater. www.CompassArts.org

While the concert is free, both ensembles greatly appreciate donations as they finalize their non-profit status and work to make their ensembles more accessible to our local community. Fareground Community, Inc. 501c3 non-profit, will also be collecting canned goods and toiletries their Tiny Food Pantries, located in Beacon and the Village of Wappingers Falls. These are like the Tiny Libraries but hold food and necessities for people to take what they need and leave what they can. www.fareground.org
