Songwriters Sloan Wainwright and Cosy Sheridan will share the stage at the Towne Crier.

Known for her warm and welcoming contralto voice which could “fell a redwood,” Sloan Wainwright is a member of that Wainwright Family Tree which includes Loudon Wainwright (her brother) and Rufus (her nephew). Defying standard categorization, with 10 original CDs under her belt, Sloan has a command of a variety of American musical styles: pop, folk, jazz and blues. Her incredible gift is not only her unique songwriting ability but also her dramatically voiced rendition of original songs. She performs with power house guitarist Steve Murphy.

Songwriter and guitarist Cosy Sheridan has been called “one of the era’s finest and most thoughtful songwriters.” Cosy’s 2018 release, “My Fence and My Neighbor,” landed in the Top 10 on the Folk DJ chart; and 2014 CD, “Pretty Bird,” was listed in Sing Out Magazine’s “Great CDs of 2014.” Backed by the strong rhythms and harmonies of her bass player Charlie Koch, her concerts are full of energy and emotionality. “Cosy writes intelligent and clever lyrics with stickable melodies,” wrote Sing Out. She first caught the attention of national folk audiences in 1992 when she won the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival songwriting contests. The Boston Globe dubbed her “one of the best new singer/songwriters.”

Longtime friends, Sloan and Cosy share a joy of each other’s music and artistry on stage in this upbeat, energetic and moving performance.
