“Highly recommended … an exhilarating, musical and multi-dimensional journey … a provocative political and social history of America.” - Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times

Clearwater presents “From Senegal to Seeger: Stories of the American Banjo,” Michael J. Miles’ acclaimed one-man show featuring musical and written works of Pete Seeger, Carl Sandburg, Woody Guthrie, Walt Whitman, Johann Sebastian Bach, Mark Twain and others.

In association with the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Michael is returning the favor for Pete’s many years of support to the school by performing this show as a fundraising benefit.  All proceeds go directly to Clearwater Foundation.

Protest songs, fiddle tunes, minstrel sounds and a dazzling array of banjo playing forms the backbone of “From Senegal to Seeger,” but it is the poetic words and Miles’ masterfully woven narrative that complete this portrait of the American experience. The show also includes Pete’s testimony before the House UnAmerican Activities Committee.

The show has been featured several hundred times in art centers and theaters all across America. This will be the very first time in Pete's hometown of Beacon.
