Beacon Rising Choir was conceived in early 2017 out of a combination of a women’s singing circle led by Kim Chase and Gina Samardge and an impromptu Resistance Choir inspired by what has become the anthem of the Women’s March, MILCK's “I Can't Keep Quiet.” Since their official launch in the fall of 2017, they have hosted three large fundraising concerts raising a combined total of more than $5,000 for area non-profits Safe Homes of Orange County, Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson, and Article 21 Network. They have also performed at numerous community events, including Kingston Pride, the Keep Families Together Fundraiser and The Concert to End Gun Violence.

While the choir focuses primarily on songs of inspiration, peace and protest, they do not limit themselves to these, as the opportunity for performing interesting, beautiful and artistic literature while sharing a passion for excellent singing is at the core of the choir.

This year’s concert will be fundraising for a few of the small Beacon-based organizations that are helping to make Beacon the amazing little city that it is. Come out and hear some great music, enjoy some wonderful food, and support those folks in our community that are lifting up Beacon!
